Corporate case study – 19 Greek Street

Background

19 Greek Street hosts events of many types, from fashion to beauty, interiors to media. But at the core is a philosophy of bringing together events to help make the world a better place.

That means raising funds for people with mental health issues or young girls in the slums of Laos and Cambodia juxtapose some of fashion’s biggest names such as Louis Vuitton and Louboutin.

In collaboration with the event team from Plain Jane Events, 150 invited guests enjoyed a showcase designed to show off 19 Greek Street at its best.

[vc_single_image image=”1845″ img_link_target=”_blank” img_link_custom=”https://fourgablesgroup.com/portfolio/the-bar/”]

Brief

The showcase was spread over four floors. Each floor represented a season of the year.
.
Guests were welcomed into Summer. A DJ played summer bangers as bar staff served refreshing cocktails with herbal notes. The room pulsed with the promise of warmth and opportunity of chilling with friends, the perfect way to set a relaxed vibe.
.
On ascending the stairs, Summer turned to Autumn. Flowers by Wild Renata Flowers celebrated an impressive palette of golds, browns, coppers, bronzes and reds. Another floor and this time, Winter. Stark and eye opening in monochrome splendour.
.
Then finally back to spring. More Wild Renata Flowers with a riot of pinks, blues and white blossom bursting from the walls. Here guests were encouraged to be interactive with flowers. Guests who took part were easily identified by beautiful corsages and hair decorations.

The Four Gables Touch

For the second floor we created a range of canapés themed ‘a walk in the woodland’, designed to celebrate all things autumn. Featured was Vegetarian sushi with fresh vegetables; earthy beetroot and goats cheese cones; bangers and mash eclairs (the epitome of comfort food) and pipettes of spiced ‘Bloody Mary’ spread around buckets of allotment vegetables with savoury edible soil.
.
Up in the Winter room ‘pornstar martini’, strawberry daiquiri and ‘mojito’ ices offered a delicious colour pop. Guests also enjoyed constructing caramel ice cream cones with a choices of toppings.

Wedding case study – Emma & Jamie

Background

Your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life. We know choosing the perfect caterer is a big decision. With over 60 years collective experience in the events industry, we know our way around a canapé or two. That said, we deliberately limit the number of weddings we do in a year so we can concentrate on you and a day you will never forget.  Emma & Jamie were a very special couple who captured our imagination. It was a privilege to be chosen to cater for their special day.

Brief

The wedding took place in a location near Dunsfold in Surrey. The event celebrated ‘classic’ with vintage tables, aged barrels, fire pits and seating provided by hay bales. The venue is very outdoors and Emma & Jamie wanted to make the most of a beautiful summers day. Flowers were supplied by the wonderful Mad Lilies who also decorated the barn with hops. Wedding photographer Married to my Camera perfectly captured the feels (for whom credit needs to go for the wonderful photo of the happy couple on this page).

The Four Gables Touch

It was a beautiful summers day. The food was designed to reflect the decoration of classic, vintage and outdoors. After the ceremony, the happy couple celebrated with a drinks reception and canapés held in the garden. Singing waiters serenaded the guests while our very own Nigel acted as toastmaster. Guests chatted over sharing platters of harissa marinated lamb rump; duck leg confit; truffled potato salad and cauliflower cheese croquettes. Desserts included a delicious summer berry Eton mess washed down with ‘his and hers’ cocktails.

Into the evening, the band set the mood while guests sat on hay bales around fire pits in the courtyard. Four Gables served a plethora of street food such as pulled pork sliders and cajun marinaded brisket served from the van in the court yard. It was a wonderful day and the perfect way to celebrate the start of Emma & Jamie’s adventures together.

Those familiar with the concept of Channel 4’s ‘Amazing Spaces’ will know that it’s protagonist, George Clarke spends his time searching the country for inspirational small builds. What you may not know is that Four Gables undertook our own Amazing Space conversation a few years ago. It involved a dilapidated vintage VW Camper Van and it’s transformation into a mobile bar.

Brief

In 2016 the business was transitioning from part time cookery school and part time events company. We were growing up and developing a fully fledged full time events company with big ideas. We needed a solution to the ‘bar problem’.  How do we deliver a bar that is funky, stylish and functional? We stumbled across the vintage VW camper and immediately our hearts and minds were set. The brief for this project was simple. Engineer this small space into a mobile bar, perfect for parties, weddings and corporate events.

The Four Gables Touch

We love that the van has heritage. It required a lot of work to make it functional. Keen to make sure the refit was sensitive to the van’s history and create something funky we commissioned a company called ‘Lust for Rust’ to help us. It was a suitably named company – there was a lot of rust!  But after some body works, a refit and respray the van was ready. We love our mobile bar, small and perfectly formed to provide a full bar suitable for mixing cocktails and serving wine and beers. Click here to find out more.

Brief

Brixton East 1871 is a former furniture mill, located next to the railway line in the centre of Brixton.  The property was converted into an event space in 2010 showcasing urban chic perfect for both private and corporate events. In this case, the brick archways and ‘shabby chic’ interior is the perfect canvas to showcase beautiful food and flowers. Our commission was to deliver a seriously classy three course meal with emphasis on stunning presentation and quality. This was music to our ears as we love a brief that showcases beautiful ingredients.

The Four Gables Touch

This is a corporate event in a stunning industrial building.  The perfect event for classic food served with rustic garnishes.  Heirloom tomato salad with burrata and micro herbs; rich slow roast pork belly with pomme puree served with a caramelised apple and calvados jus; butternut squash and ricotta cannelloni with a spinach, tomato and basil compote and a decadent edible chocolate garden with chocolate mousse, white chocolate ganache, carrot and orange ice cream, chocolate soil and edible flowers.

Background

We may have mentioned once or twice that collaboration in corporate event management is really important to us. Expertise and experience results in a team focused on an outstanding experience for the customer. With this in mind, we recently welcomed the imaginative and refreshingly easy-going ladies from creative agency Plain Jane Events. The meeting involved cocktails, lunch and sharing ideas for an upcoming venue showcase. Perfect.

Brief

The venue for the showcase is Soho’s 19 Greek Street in London. The former Victorian townhouse is now an event space spread over four floors. The owners of Greek Street wanted a space designed for advancement, sustainability, innovation and good taste and golly did they succeed. Greek street hosts many types of event and at its core is a philosophy bringing together events to help to make the world a better place. 150 guests are invited to the showcase to experience 19 Greek Street at its best. Each floor will be themed for ‘seasons’. The venue will feature a summer bar and DJ, floristry in spring and food over two floors to represent autumn and winter.

The Four Gables Touch

After picking them up from the train station, we greeted Emma, Hannah and Annabelle with a selection of cocktails before they headed into the kitchen for a pasta making lesson with head chef, Andy. Everyone rolled their sleeves up to get stuck in to lunch prep with much laughter. Later, ideas flowed around the conference table. Concepts were discussed, colour schemes introduced and matched with canapés and desserts. The showcase has the makings of being epic, watch this space for more soon.

Case Study – All Things ‘Party’

Background

Sultry summer evenings lend themselves to sharing with friends and family and if you have the space, using your garden provides an intimate and convenient venue. There are lots of benefits of organising a garden party. Delicious food, favourite cocktails and great company, all in the comfort of your own home. No stressing over time restrictions or limited food choices. You are free to pick and choose whatever you fancy.

[vc_single_image image=”1668″ img_link_target=”_blank”]

Brief

We were tasked to create a memorable 50th birthday party guests would be talking about for weeks to come. Opulence was a key theme. It was imperative that we were on point with a sumptuous bar featuring delicious cocktails and champagne.  In addition the client asked for hearty food with sophistication. In essence an oxymoron but also a creative dream made in heaven.

The Four Gables Touch

We loved this event. With the focus on guests who were treated like stars, the red carpet was (literally) rolled out to greet folks in their finery, who were guided into a marquee lit with a starlight ceiling and embellished with a chequered dance floor.  Guests were welcomed with Bollinger champagne, various martinis and mojito bubble tea while enjoying canapés including lobster doughnuts with bisque dipping sauce; mille-fuille of gravadlax with candied beetroot and goats cheese and chilli jam lollipops. We created a ‘street food’ station in the garden – with chefs cooking to order. The station enabled food creativity and theatre to be enjoyed by all before heading off to a full laser show and smoke machine to get the dancing started.

Brief

Our brief was to get seriously creative with food. This was the launch of the prestigious business school on the 42nd floor of One Canada Square, Canary Wharf for 155 VIP guests. We were tasked with delivering victuals that portrayed everything the business school represents; innovation, creativity and difference.

The Four Gables Touch

Visual representation is a powerful way for students to understand financial and mathematical abstracts and is crucial to the subjects studied at UCI. We took the concept of ‘Visual representation’ and suggested the concept of ‘Food theatre’. As well as the obvious visual connection; food theatre offers the perfect opportunity to be interactive and engage with the customer. Our chefs thrive in ‘live food’ situations – and it enables guests to enjoy the science and process behind the food as well as the food itself. We created a live sushi station – with chefs rolling sushi to order. The station enabled food creativity and customisation depending on the tastes of the guest and how spicy they enjoyed their food. Food as theatre is one of our specialities and it was very satisfying to be able to use it to achieve the brief set.

We love to create a story. The Arias fit perfectly with the Italian feel of the menu. From handmade gnocchi to die for to espresso tiramisu, we ensured all aspects of the food and service complimented the event and that the evening ran seamlessly. Guests were welcomed with canapés of mortadella and goats cheese parcels; crisp tiger prawns with arrabiata dip; Dorset crab and oregano cones and mozzarella bonbons. The Italian theme continued with sumptuous artichoke and ricotta stuffed gnocchi served with wild mushroom cream and garnished with shaved Parmesan. Dessert was mocha tiramisu with milk chocolate foam.

Case Study – Grosvenor Summer Party

Background

The Grosvenor Group sets out its stall as a forward thinking company by committing to investing in people and local communities. Mark Preston, Chief Executive of Grosvenor Group, said, “Our plan is to deepen our activity in those cities in which we have developed a presence… and which offer opportunities to improve properties and places to provide a positive impact on communities, neighbourhoods and cities.” This event was the epitome of that philosophy.
[vc_single_image image=”1445″]
[vc_single_image image=”1446″ img_link_target=”_blank”]

Brief

The folks from Grosvenor asked for a classy, fun and sophisticated summer party to celebrate and thank the dedication of the staff (500 guests). A number of different concepts were discussed and “Quintessentially British” settled on as an appropriate reflection of the brief. Food stations were perfect for the number of guests and offered the best opportunity to showcase our traditional national dishes. It also offered the perfect vehicle for the informality and creativity we were looking for. We decided on these stations Seafood and Oyster Bar | Fish and Chip Shop | “from the grill” | Build your own Eton Mess

The Four Gables Touch

The event needed to be both visually stunning and delicious. We utilised chefs to freshly cook the food on each station to demand.  Each station was highly decorated and the theme of each reflected in the apparel worn by the Four Gables staff. We also wanted to extend the concept to the drinks on offer. Quintessentially British and Victorian… it had to be gin (obviously enjoying a great British resurgence at the moment). So we approached our friends at Bombay Sapphire to help us create alcoholic and virgin cocktails for the occasion. These were very well received throughout the evening and with an array of bars the guests were never too far from refreshment!
