Trusted suppliers – Workshop Coffee

Background

Workshop Coffee is dedicated to sourcing, roasting and brewing the best coffee possible. That means working closely with the most dedicated farmers, co-operatives and exporters they can. Those who are willing to develop, evolve and adapt to work towards improving the quality of the raw product. Their coffee range changes through the year to reflect the varying harvest seasons around the world. As a result, the range is never exhaustive, but a showcase of what’s delicious right now.

Brief

We work hard to source the best suppliers for your event. So, David, Dave and Alix took a trip to London for a tasting session to sample the new coffee developed by Workshop. We enjoyed a history of the beans, then observed the process of roasting once Workshop take possession of them. Roasting coffee is a fascinating process. It is gratifying to see the raw product being treated with such reverence.

The Four Gables Touch

The team tasted several of the coffees proffered. Including Gerardo Irira – a very juicy coffee with fruity notes. Flavours of plum and persimmon, lots of brown sugar and candied walnut in the finish were evident. Also on the menu was Pedro del Trujillo – a wonderful soft cup with flavours of white chocolate, walnut and black tea with hints of fleshy pear and kiwi. Head chef Dave loved the eco processes involved in roasting coffee. Highlights are the empty hessian sacks going to the gorilla enclosure at London Zoo (they use them as hammocks apparently – how cool is that?) and used husks turned into bedding for the local cows. We’re delighted to be able to work with Workshop and offer their coffee to you at your event.

The award-winning Fetcham Park, also known as Surrey’s ‘best-kept secret’, is a Grade II* listed house built in around 1700. After centuries as a private home, in 1999 it became a business centre and has offered serviced offices, meeting space and private receptions to local and international businesses ever since. The house was originally designed by William Talman with murals by Louis Laguerre, whose work can also be seen at Blenheim Palace and Chatsworth, and gardens originally landscaped by the royal gardener and designer George London.

Building relationships in the event business is key. It benefits our customers and so we value those relationships immensely.  In this blog post we feature wedding and event planner Susie Evans. We met Susie a few years ago. Actually it was so long ago we can’t remember the exact details. We were impressed by her professional manner and friendly demeanour and we hit it off straight away.
.
Susie the Event Planner
The first word that comes to mind when landing on the website of Susie Evans is calm.  And calm is an admirable attribute in a wedding and event planner.
.
Susie is at the top of her game right now. In fact, she’s about to close her books for 2019 events and is already booking well into 2020. Like Four Gables, Susie prides herself on excellent working relationships with other like minded businesses. That’s why we feel the synergy between Four Gables and Susie works so well. As well as reliability and fab organisational skills, Susie also loves the challenge. Her events leave the rulebook behind. Creativity is at the heart of everything she does.
.
Why we love her
From our perspective, it’s beneficial to have Susie to call upon for advice. The events industry is all about relationships and trust. Having worked with Susie over a number of years we know that her attention to detail delivers amazing events. Susie is creative, innovative and great at “getting the job done” with no hassle and total ease. She is a pleasure to work with from both a planning and operational point of view ensuring that each event is seamless. If you are thinking about an event and struggling for inspiration or support then Susie is your person.  With great connections  to fantastic suppliers we guarantee after your event you will think “I am so pleased we asked Susie to help us plan our event.”

Mad Lilies 1024 425 Four Gables Group

Mad Lilies

In previous posts we’ve talked with pride about our relationship with local suppliers.  Symbiotic relationships are obviously mutually beneficial for our businesses but the ultimate winner is the customer who benefits from shared excellence and experience.
.

One of our longest business relationships is with Mad Lilies, a florist in Banstead.  So much so that after seven years of mutual working we are proud to regard them as friends.

Alison, the owner of Mad Lilies is at the top of her game – her product is visually beautiful and cleverly styled (we’re only a little jealous of her Instagram feed) and like Four Gables, you are the centre of her business. We see many similarities between ourselves and the way Alison nurtures her business.  Dependable, passionate and hard working, with a clear understanding of what her customers want and a way of stylishly articulating their desires through her work.  She loves her clients and wants to make life as easy as possible for them.

As such, her testimony page speaks volumes.

Canapés and Cocktails 1024 408 Four Gables Group

Canapés and Cocktails

Years ago I was lucky enough to enjoy a wine tour of the vineyards of the Napa Valley.  At the time, it was a very unusual ‘holiday’ thing to do – a perfect inclusion to a trip to France or California but unheard of in the UK (I’m very old!).

These days, of course, things are different.  Very different as it happens.  With vineyards and distilleries mushrooming all over England (Scotland spotted this market years ago!) there are lots of opportunities for alcohol related tourism.  One such venue we are always very happy to visit is the Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire.   If you have never been there, you’ll never get a better excuse than their ‘Summer Cocktails and Canapés’ evening on Friday 31st August from 7pm to 11pm.

Here is what Bombay Sapphire say about it…. ‘Bombay Sapphire will be serving cocktails and canapés in the grounds of the distillery and you can choose your cocktails using the aroma cards in the Botanical Dry Room.  The experience includes a welcome cocktail as well as 2 additional cocktails, further drinks can be purchased in the Mill Bar and we canapés will be available throughout the evening.  This experience is in partnership with Four Gables Group and is available for over 18s only’.

So there you have it – it will be a fabulous evening and we hope to see you there.

UPDATE: Tickets for the event have now sold out.  You can read more (and find out about more Bombay Sapphire events) here.

Bluebell Vineyard 1024 768 Four Gables Group

Bluebell Vineyard

Last Thursday, at the start of the glorious Bank Holiday weekend, we attended the Bluebell Vineyard in East Sussex.  A former pig farm, the family run vineyard is now a wedding and corporate hospitality venue and home of the award-winning range of ‘Hindleap’ English Sparkling wines.

Our visit was purposeful.  We were there to cater for lunch and oversee wine tasting at a corporate event.  The weather was kind.  Blackbirds were singing in the trees and the newly revealed sunshine showed off the eponymous bluebells nestling in the surrounding woods.

We thrive on the challenge of creating innovate menus for special events.  We designed the menu to reflect the start of spring, with a real focus on seasonal British produce.  Very appropriate for an award winning vineyard featuring English Sparking wine.

It’s always a delight to work with a partner venue, to deliver a successful event, in such a beautiful location.

Bluebell Vineyard is available to hire for your special event.  Click here to find out more.

Welcome to Balcombe Place 1024 369 Four Gables Group

Welcome to Balcombe Place

Balcombe Place is very, very special.  Majestic and haunting with a sense of class, this beautiful Grade II listed country home is situated in an aspect that commands stunning views of the Sussex Downs.

Built in 1856, the house has enjoyed an interesting history, including time as a nursing home and a school.  It has recently been reclaimed by the descendants of Lord and Lady Denman who have lovingly restored this great beauty to her former glory.  Now, Balcombe Place is available to hire for your exclusive use.

Four Gables is thrilled to be in partnership with Balcombe Place.  Providing exquisite food and delicious drinks for your event or wedding, we can provide a range of food like no other.  Like our friends at Balcombe Place, customer service is really important to us.  We can help you create an event your guests will reminisce about for years to come.

In order for you to experience what Balcombe Place can offer, they are hosting a Launch Party on Saturday 12 May 2018, 7.30pm.  This is a ticketed event and more details can be found on their website here.  This is your opportunity, for the first time in 70 years, to view the country home for yourself and see what Balcombe Place truly has to offer.
