There are some weddings where the food becomes more than just part of the day; it becomes part of the memories.

For Andrew and Zac, their experience with Four Gables Events began long before their wedding day. Recommended by their wedding planner, they came to their first meeting with an open mind and plenty of ideas.

What followed was a journey of incredible food, completely bespoke menus and a team determined to make every detail count.

This is their story…

 

It Started at the Farm

The couple initially chose Four Gables because of the freedom they were given when creating their menus. At their first video call, they talked through their ideas, from canapés and cocktails to their favourite drinks and some rather ambitious menu requests.

Head Chef Stephen took everything on board. Before long, the couple found themselves at the Four Gables farm, tasting their first menu and experiencing the food for themselves.

“Four Gables Farm is something special.”

They describe being treated “like absolute royalty”, with their canapés and cocktails presented beautifully and every element carefully considered. And then came a particularly personal request.

Knowing the groom’s well-documented university-era love of potato waffles, Stephen created a gourmet potato waffle canapé especially for him. It was exactly the kind of personal touch that made the experience feel completely theirs.

 

 

When One Menu Wasn’t Enough

The couple quickly discovered that choosing a single dish was going to be easier said than done. Their main courses were so impressive that they asked whether their guests could have a choice between dishes rather than selecting just one.

The answer from the team at Four Gables Events? “Absolutely….”

The eventual favourite was the rack of lamb, and when the couple came in to sample their menu, Stephen went one step further, preparing the dish in two completely different styles: classic British and Mediterranean.

“It simply did not have to be done, but he did, and ended up changing our minds after months of envisaging the same dish.”

For the couple, it was another example of the creativity and care that went into their wedding menu.

 

The Wedding Day

When the big day finally arrived, the Four Gables team were ready. Brad was assigned as their personal “butler” for the day, making sure the couple were looked after from start to finish, including reminding them to actually stop and eat!

It was a small detail, but one that made a huge difference. The team also ensured the couple had their own canapé trays, meaning they could enjoy the food they had spent so much time choosing, rather than missing out in the excitement of the day.

 

Cocktails, Their Way

The afternoon cocktails brought another opportunity for Four Gables to make the experience personal. The couple had requested a “twist on a classic Negroni”. For the Four Gables team, it was no problem. The result was another bespoke moment that fitted seamlessly into the atmosphere of the afternoon.

 

A Wedding Breakfast to Remember

Then came the wedding breakfast. The couple and their guests were blown away by the quality of the food. With no phones available to capture the moment, they relied on the photographs from their menu tasting to remember what they had chosen.

And thankfully, the food looked every bit as good as they remembered.

“For us, the food was always going to be a talking point of our wedding, and they did not disappoint.”

 

 

And Then… Tacos

But the evening had one final surprise. During the planning process, the couple had mentioned that they would love some tacos for their evening food.

Four Gables delivered a taco station. The tacos became the perfect finale to an already unforgettable day; informal, fun and exactly what the couple had imagined.

“There are tacos and tacos, and ours were certainly the latter.”

After a day filled with beautifully presented food, cocktails and incredible attention to detail, it was the perfect way to finish the celebrations.

 

 

The Final Word

Looking back, the couple say choosing Four Gables was one of the best decisions they made during their wedding planning.

“The food and drink is such an important part of a wedding, and we look back on our choice of Four Gables as one of the best decisions we made in the planning.”

And perhaps the greatest compliment of all?

“If we have any event in the future, we will certainly be returning, if not just to have that rack of lamb once more.”
